MOODFLIX
Type a feeling, get a shortlist of five films worth your evening.
Streaming gave everyone more to watch and no help deciding. Moodflix sits on top of the catalog instead of inside one service: browse thousands of films and series, track what you want to watch and what you actually thought of it, and on the nights nothing jumps out, describe how you feel and let the AI narrow it to five. I designed and built the whole thing solo, end to end.
I owned every layer: the interface, the data behind your library, and the recommendation engine. The hardest part was making the AI feel honest rather than algorithmic. It reads your tone instead of matching keywords, returns a short list with one plain reason per pick, and fills the results in live as each title's details load.
- Designed the mood-to-shortlist flow: you type how you feel, the AI reads it and pulls in real titles while it answers, and the picks appear as they are found
- Built the personal library — watchlist, watching, watched, ratings, and private notes — kept private so each person only ever sees their own
- Shipped it as an installable app with quiet release alerts, plus a free tier of 10 AI picks a day and a paid Critic tier with unlimited picks and data export
